We were thrilled to participate in the Maldives Coral Festival, an event to raise awareness about the importance of coral reefs and marine ecosystems to the economic and ecological well-being of the Maldives, the Indian Ocean, and the planet.
We received an invitation from the Coral Institute to join the festival held in Addu City. We were excited to facilitate a session demonstrating how technology can be used for conservation efforts. Our team, including Co-Founder Shahuza Kareem, Associate members Aminath Shudhuhath Mohamed, Mariyam Samha, and Aminath Raayan, showcased various technology tools being designed to save the oceans.

During the session, out team used an activity from Code.org's "AI for Oceans" to showcase how machine learning can identify and classify different types of marine life, aiding research and conservation efforts. Participants from NGOs, students, and adults completed the activity during the session.

Incorporating technology into conservation efforts is crucial for protecting our oceans. By leveraging technology in conservation efforts, we can improve our understanding of these ecosystems and take more informed actions to protect them. We hope to see more Maldivian youth and civil society organizations embracing technology to appreciate better and understand the significance of coral reefs and marine ecosystems
